5 Beat Jazz Drum Comping Ideas
jazz drumming idea #30
by Tim Lake
These are really just a few random ideas for 5 beat jazz drum comping patterns with jazz time.
Initially inspired by a section in Gavin Harrison's "Rhythmic Illusions", I want to apply similar ideas to uptempo playing, as well as breaking down the triplet ideas into more usable 2 and 4 bar phrases.
There is a rich seam of ideas here, and I've got some more 5 beat ideas to develop and post in the future, as well as some similar ideas around 7 beat ideas.
Hopefully you'll a few interesting ideas to inspire your own playing and rhythmic explorations.
As always the PDF contains some further exercises and developments. Get it for free below.
